My PGA picks for this past weekend had mixed results. I had one miss, and one land in the money. But because of the payout structure for the million dollar GPP tournament, I ended up behind for the week.
The lineup that missed had two players miss the cut, including my anchor: Rory McIlroy. McIlory just couldn’t figure out his putter, losing 4.5 strokes compared to the filed on the greens alone. A couple of other guys did OK – both Spieth and Na finished in the top 25 – but with no top 10’s, this lineup just couldn’t overcome the two empty slots on the weekend.
My in-the-money lineup had 5 out of 6 guys make the cut, and with Branden Grace’s strong Sunday, and T4 finish, I ended up getting some money back on this one. Dustin Johnson didn’t even come close to making the cut, but since 43% of people had him in their lineups, it didn’t hurt me too bad.
P.S. My avoid Jason Day advice was obviously terrible. I have to remember to not get sucked into the debilitating illness stories every time Day gets close to a major.
